mission: an important task that you or someone else chooses to carry out.

Example:  My Mom sent me on a mission to help her find her car keys.


opposition: When someone or a group of people disagree with your ideas or actions and try to get you to do something else.

Example:  During a game of tag,  I avoided the opposition by hiding under the basement stairs.

diminished: to make smaller or less important.
Example:  I felt diminished when I got in trouble for being late to my class.

Evasive: trying to avoid doing or saying something.

Example:  When mom asked if I cleaned up my bedroom, I was evasive when I answered her.
