contagious: catching, capable of being passed from one to another.

example:  Measles is so contagious that you can get it if you go into a room where someone who had measles was in, even if they are not in the room at that moment.


epidemic: a widespread disease, or the same thing happening to many at the same time.

example: Disneyland was closed down for a measles epidemic, since almost every child visiting there got sick with this disease. 


renown: known for achieving or being good at something.

example: The eight grade English teacher was renown for her humor, everyone loved going to her classes.
